This was my first AMV. It was created using Ulead Video Studio 5.0. This is a fairly basic linear editor which handles MPEG2 files very well. No conversions to an AVI format were necessary. This saved much disk space - not that THE TOWER OF POWER couldn't handle it - while maintaining the highest visual quality possible since the source footage remained in its original file format. On the downside, Video Studio has no useful filters or special effects, outside of basic scene transitions.
This video is made up of around 120 clips, most of which are under 3 seconds each in length. This is because of the high paced music. It requires repeated viewing to absorb all of the details. The goal was to synchronize the music as much as possible to action sequences from Gun Smith Cats. The explosions, the flying bullets, the swerving cars, and most any other physical movement corresponds to an element from the music.
On the surface, this is an energetic action video where the immediate themes are cars, guns, explosions, and more guns. At the same time, it should give the viewer a feeling of suspense or tension from the scenes of near relentless danger and motion. Enjoy.
